SO THIS IS WHAT GOOD FEELS LIKE is a
collection of stories about hope from alumni from Odyssey House Texas.
These stories are a glimpse of life before and after that can only hint
at the work they have done to rebuild their lives and rewrite their
futures.
"How many chances do your get to start over? There are people who
aren't with us anymore because they blew their chance and didn't get a
second one." Kirk
"Knowing what I did and the people I hung around with, it's weird
that I am still alive. I was just a little girl." Celeste
"I thought life was just a time to waste until you die, so you might
as well waste it good and get high." Nick
"I had to learn not to let the curse of abuse dictate what my life
was going to be." Kendall
"I was so uncomfortable being in my own skin that I instantly got
hooked on weed because it felt so good to feel good. I was seven years
old." James
"One day my mother said, 'I've got some coke and some X and some
weed,' so I started using drugs as sort of a way to bond with her."
Ashley
"I was walking down the road wanting to die and thinking if a truck
came by I would jump in front of it. Then I started looking for a
truck." Sean
